Each individual having a return prepared must sign a separate letter.

  2. Complete the Tax Checklist.

  3. Submit all completed documents, slips, and receipts to your Client Portal by April 9, 2026.

We have provided multiple ways for you to access and complete the forms, please choose what works best for you:

Submitting Documents

Our Client Portal is the preferred and secure way for us to receive your tax documents. If you are not on the portal, please email emily@gregevans.ca to be enrolled.

We prefer documents to be in PDF, Word, or Excel format, as applicable. If you do not have a scanner, there are several free apps (such as Adobe Scan) that you can download onto your smartphone in order to convert a photo to a PDF.

As a last resort, we can accept high-quality photos of documents.

Submission Deadline

To guarantee completion of your returns by the April 30, 2026 deadline we need to receive your tax information by April 9, 2026.

If the deadline is approaching and you are still waiting on tax documents, please reach out and let us know.
We will advise next steps depending on what information you are waiting on.

Do you have investments? How do you know you received all your tax slips?

Over the last couple of years, we have found that taxpayers aren’t receiving all of their tax slips. Sometimes they are late, and sometimes they don’t show up at all. We want to bring this to your attention because not all slips are available in your CRA portal either. And sometimes the information in the portal isn’t enough so we need the physical slip. We are relying on you to ensure all tax slips are provided to us. The CRA is charging penalties for missing tax slips so we want to work with you to avoid that as much as possible.

When you have investments, it can be hard to know exactly what slips you are expecting, and it may change each year depending on what happens in the investment accounts. We recommend reaching out to your investment advisor each year to confirm. Or, if you provide us with authorization and their contact info, we can reach out to them directly as well.

Key Points about investment tax documents:

  • Even if you have only one investment account, you may receive multiple tax slips.

  • The tax slips may not be sent at the same time and may even be prepared by different companies.

  • We may require more information than just the tax slip itself. It helps us if you provide all documents you receive in your year end tax package.

  • Not all tax documents are mailed out. Some are only made available to you online through your investment platform. Don’t forget to check there!

  • Not all tax slips will appear in your CRA portal.

  • The T3 slip filing deadline is March 31st. That means you may not receive all of your slips until mid-April.

  • If a tax slip is in your CRA portal, there are times not all the information is available. We would prefer actual copies of each slip to ensure your return is prepared correctly.
